An Amazing Time!

Here on the top floor of  the Museo Nazionale Romano is any painter’s dream. The ancient roman wall paintings are unspeakably wonderful! Everything you might ever want to know about color & paint is summed up here. The paint is free, precise, animated & rich!

livia_affresco2These photos off the internet are a sorry poor example of them.

I hate to post them but my Apple I-Phone has bit the dust!  I miss its excellent pics which were so easily done as my day progressed.

Here is the guilty party! An infra red camera by the Forum. I could not figure out what the stray white light was in my photo but not in my eye! Then when my I-Phone went fuzzy, I knew the light had burned out my phone’s sensors.

Any advice on how to get Apple to replace this would be appreciated!

So here is my LAST GREAT PHOTO MOMENT BEFORE THE INFRA RED DISASTER STRUCK!

AND HERE IS MY SUNBURN PHOTO ENHANCED BY THE LACK OF ALL THE NEEDED CAMERA SENSORS!

  1. If it had to be the last, the camera went out on a high note. Very nice!

The Maryland Fire Museum had one of its steamers running today, so I spent most of the day outside. Nice day for it: partly overcast. I stopped and got sunscreen and a floppy hat on the way. We’ll see how I look tomorrow 🙂

It’s fascinating how elaborate some of the decorations were on the older fire rigs, especially back in the hand-drawn and horse-drawn eras. Carving, and gold leaf designs – the volunteers were very proud and used not only athletic competitions but art to express it.

Rome had a fire department, back during the empire. The firefighters were slaves who could earn their freedom for a certain number of years of exemplary service (16, I think – which makes sense as military draftees had to serve 15).
